What the heck!
Well, of all the miserable, insufferable things to happen, this one takes first prize.
The JLSC forum will be closing on January 1st, 2004. Just like that, no explanation given. Swell! Opens the door to speculation as to the why and why not of it all.
There are those who feel that I am the reason behind its closing. If I am, then there was very little that was holding it afloat lately.
Gee, sorry for not being able to gracefully accept boorish people and those who insult me personally. Sorry for not being able to keep quiet in the onslaught of asinine invasive posts. Sorry for daring to solve a problem that wouldn't go away even when ignored. But you know what? I'm only sorry for myself, for what this has done to my own image. Yes, I'm shallow and selfish in this, and most probably in many other things.
The breakdown of a community is what's happening now as a consequence. Sort of like the breakdown of a relationship, only of a different kind. Nothing momentous, mind you, just unpleasant, leaving a bitter taste of an unsatisfactory outcome. Certainly not the one hoped for.
So now there are 3 spin-off forums. None has really emerged as the clear winner. There are pros and cons to all of them. I own one of the 3 off-spring. 6 members at the height of popularity. I'll probably take it down, to free up space on my web site. Not much sense keeping it around much longer. The race is between the other two. Allegiances are forged and broken in such ventures. Can they both survive? Time will tell, but things will surely not be the same. No continuity of thoughts and actions across forums. Oh, well...
