Life after the JLSC forum

Here we are 5 weeks after the meltdown of the JLSC forum. I guess you can say I was sort of wrong about people still hanging around. They are, though there's more activity at David's forum on a day-to-day basis. My forum has 22 members counting myself, which is pretty healthy considering. Except few are truly active, but then few are truly active anywhere at this time.

The JLSC results came in on time on the stroke of midnight on January 15th and we had a big bash of a party in the Songwriters' Forum Chat Room while waiting for the results. Alas, none of the forum members got any prizes, so the last hopes are towards the Honorable Mentions to be announced who knows when.

Because of some extremely boorish chat room squatters, I had to move the chat room to another network from the Volano network where it had resided since last summer where my good friend the webmaster of some super web sites I have listed on the links page at my web site had built it for me. A pity that a few could spoil the fun of many. Anyway, we do have a new working chat room, so those of my friends who are chat addicts can still shoot the breeze on my site.

To brighten things up a bit this winter I'm running another Intra-Forum contest, IFC7. The theme this time around is Valentine songs. Sappy love songs, happy or sad, doesn't matter. We have a beautiful turnout so far, 11 contestants. A couple more had expressed intent, but they haven't materialized. The deadline is at midinght tonight, so maybe.....

I almost forgot. I've been having no end of trouble with my web sites this past week. The web hosting company decided to change servers and all hell broke loose. I think, I hope it is OK now, but I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed and not holding my breath, lest I suffocate. Email through the web sites was the hardest hit. It seems to be back on track.

As Janurary winds down and we're heading for that most miserable of all months, February, I am reminded of what somebody once said about it:

February's existence is only justified by the need of having 4 extra weeks in which to stash away all of January's surplus miserable weather.

Was this guy ever right! We've had our fill of snow and cold in Montreal and then some. The only consolation is Valentine's day.

Have a very lovey-dovey Valentine's day everybody!
