New Venture: Webhosting!
Ooof! I've started on a new venture: webhosting. I suppose this was a natural progression from the bit of web design (if you can call it that, W3C notwithstanding) that I've been doing.
So I've acquired a webhosting reseller account mainly so that I can better distribute resources between the various shared hosting accounts I already have.
The move was fabulously smooth once I got over a couple of little hurdles placed there by some higher power to test me.
The bigger challenge has been to set up a new spiffy homepage using Mambo. I guess I was feeling a bit self-conscious over my home-made webado sites. I love them dearly to be sure and I've learnt an awful lot about html, javascript and php while working on them an maintaining them. I'm not going to change them in any major way, in fact.
I am not terribly convinced of any great benefits to be derived from strict adherence to ALL of the W3C edicts (not even to most of them, actually), quite the contrary as a matter of fact. But I'll keep this speech for another time.
For my reseller site I still have to complete the customization of a billing system which is a bit of a drag, as I'm not familiar with the concepts in the first place. I'm plodding along though and maybe one of these days it will be done. Integrating it into the Mambo site may prove a bit more of a challenge though. But it might be possible after all.
And right now I am quite happy as I've just had my first webhosting client, even before finalizing the details of the venture. Ah, to be a landlady at last!
