The Day Google Called

Back in May I received an email  I was sure was a hoax.

It purported being from Google and I was invited to attend a Top Contributors’ Summit in Mountain View, California, in September. Yeah, right …

YAY, it was true 🙂

And to Cali I went for the Summit which took place on September 13 & 14.

I had the time of my life meeting so many people I’ve known from the Google forums and visiting the Googleplex. Yes, there’s a dinosaur skeleton in front… and giant cupcakes, donuts and other goodies on the lawn…. Picture op spots 😉

Yummy

You know you're at Google when you see giant cupcakes

The Summit was just 2 days, but I went for a week and lived it up. It was a party and a half and then some 😉

One month after I came back I swear I’m still buzzing on Cali time 😉

It's me, only not quite

Yes, our teens have talent!

Today was the final of the 2011 Acoustic Nights Montreal Teen Songwriting Competition  where the Top 10 teen singer-songwriter artists put on a wonderful display of talent and perseverance, in front of 4 professional musician judges with  friends and family in the audience.

What a delight! They make their parents proud and spread joy all around.

Congratulations to all Top 10 contestants for a great job. The winners were:

  1. Isabelle Stern (15, Lorraine, QC)
  2. Matthew Azrieli (16, Montreal, QC)
  3. Hailey Samm (17, Ville St-Laurent, QC)

The People’s Choice Award went to Gillian Ho (16, Montreal, QC).

It was very hard to judge and to pick a winner, with so much talent. I am not exaggerating when I say I’d have picked them all, because  I am full of admiraiton for each performer, each one has left a lasting impression.

I wish you kids great futures and to grow into successful singer-songwriters. I’m quite sure we have seen the cream of the crop today.

I’m so proud of you all and humbled by the experience of seeing and hearing you all perform and give it your best 🙂
