A tool many of us in web development have grown to love dearly has ceased its existence: web-sniffer.net has been shut down and the domain is up for sale to the highest bidder.
Update: On June 26 web-sniffer.net returned! Joy and happy dance!
It is now being redirected to some horrible spammy site where one fears invasion of malware with every passing second, enough to make me scan my computer immediately upon exiting. Hopefully it’s just a spammy annoying site, but you never know these days.
Hey, you who took over web-sniffer.net! Shame on you for turning it into a stinking rotting block of spam!
RIP web-sniffer.net. Damn, I actually liked the UI.
I am sure I’ll find substitutes in abundance. But so far none have captured my fancy and none that I’ve tried have been a completely satisfying as web-sniffer.net had been.
Currently I’m test-driving urivalet.com and testuri.org. They seem OK except neither provides the IP of the server where the tested URL is hosted. So I’ll keep looking.
