That was quite a scare many of us had 4 days ago when our dearest web tool web-sniffer.net vanished from our lives with no warning.
At this point I really hope that in fact the site had been hacked (which is bad enough and I’d personally strangle the hackers and hang them out to dry!) and it simply took this long to recover. It seems to be on a new server, hopefully with much higher security.
So rejoice, web-sniffer.net is back online!
This incident however points out that nothing should be taken for granted and backup plans must always exist. It made me seek out alternatives, it also prompted me to try to develop my own tool to achieve a similar objective. It’s not ready and when it is I won’t make it public because I cannot sustain the heavy battering it may take (even if mine is not likely to be the best of its kind).
So now I’m reminded maybe I should show some tangible support to web-sniffer.net 🙂
