The 2014 Montreal JazzFest started 2 days ago and for once the weather has been great.
Last night (Friday, June 27) I made my way to the Quartier des Spectacles, and stumbled onto an amazing show: Beth Hart, giving a free outdoor concert on the Rio Tinto Alcan stage to a huge audience.
I didn’t know who it was at first, but I heard such a phenomenal voice and such a heart wrenching dialogue with the band, that I remained mesmerized, getting goose bumps with every inflection.
When I got home I googled the artist and got to read her bio and watch a few more videos.
It begs the question: why haven’t I heard of her before? Maybe it’s my being a bit disconnected from news, but I am sure our local radio and TV simply don’t give prominence to such amazing artists who don’t fit any mold of either pop, rock or country. She’s quite unique and a genre onto herself.
Loved it, every minute of it. And thank you Beth and Montreal JazzFest for offering us this unique opportunity.
Let me see what other awesome shows I can cram into my vacation 🙂
